An English TV presenter has posted a poignant photo of the sun going down on his family, following wife's sudden and unexpected death to Leukaemia.

In a post to Twitter, Sky Sports presenter Simon Thomas revealed his “indescribable pain” in the wake of Gemma Thomas’ tragic death to Acute Myloid Leukaemia (AML).

“Today I am crushed with indescribable pain,” he wrote on Saturday.

“My dear wife Gemma passed away yesterday evening surrounded by her family and friends.”

He has since updated the cover photo of his Facebook account with a photo of he and his late wife standing holding the hands of eight-year-old son Ethan by a river at sunset.

The trio are dramatically silhouetted by the falling sun.
Thomas, a Premier League soccer presenter, appealed for prayers for Ethan, who is “in bits” over his mother’s death.

His revelation has triggered an outpouring of commemoration by prominent sports organisations like Norwich City, FC, and sport stars both current and former.
AML is a rare but aggressive disease known to kill within a matter of weeks or months.

Treatment is effective for 35 to 40 percent of people under the age of 60, compared to five to 15 percent of those over 60.

Symptoms include fatigue, bruising, shortness of breath and easy bleeding.
