Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane insists Manchester United target Gareth Bale is still wanted at the Bernabeu.

Jose Mourinho revealed last summer that he would be in the market for the Welshman, if he was available, only to announce it was "game over" after Bale started against United in the Super Cup.

However, United are still interested in making a possible move for Bale next summer, with Real Madrid reported to be keen to offload him due to a poor injury record.

And United have also been linked with Raphael Varane ahead of the January transfer window, while speculation about Cristiano Ronaldo's possible return to Old Trafford emerges periodically.

But Zidane insists no players will be departing in the winter window - although he made no reference to the summer, when there are suggestions Real Madrid will conduct a squad overhaul.

"We know what Gareth can bring us," Zidane said. "It’s true there has been a lot of talk about his injuries, and that he plays just three games before another [absence].

"We want him back 100 per cent. He will not need so much time as there was not a big gap between the two injuries this time."

He added: "In the winter market there will be no exits. But anything can happen in terms of arrivals, we will see."
